Sugarleaf and Jertie's Kitchen Tandem in Going Green

Don't panic, it's organic!  Going green is not as difficult and boring as it seem. This was proven by resource speakers, sisters Jaclyn and Jertie Abergas, together with Angelo Songco, during the recent sneak-preview of their upcoming organic preparation workshop at the Sugarleaf Makati.

Hosted by a long-time friend, Sugarleaf co-owner, healthy eating advocate and media guru, Mr. Angelo Songco, I was enlightened on how going green can be literally simple and delicious.

Using plant-based ingredients, Jac and Jertie introduced not only how to cook healthy, but moreover, told  us how it is like to have a vegan and gluten-free lifestyle.  They are not doing this to join the band-wagon of diet fads, but rather, they have a condition that cannot tolerate certain foods. Living in a home of family members who eat meat, they prepare their own meals and do their own ingredient-shopping at Sugarleaf.

"A lot of people hesitate to commit to a plant-based diet because they believe it to be difficult and expensive to create," says Jertie, who follows a gluten-free diet. "My sister and I Jaq want to debunk that misconception! Most of the time, it is as affordable as it can get."

Oh, did I say that the food they prepared were delicious?  Not to mention, the green smoothie mostly composed of kangkong was mightily tasty and refreshing.

Sugarleaf and Jertie's Kitchen are happy to announce their exciting and healthy project in the coming months, entitled "The Green Guide To Eating Right, A Healthy Food Preparation Workshop Series."  The series will be held at the Makati Cafe, MEDICard Lifestyle Center, Paseo De Roxas corner Sen.
